Meet New Garden’s CFI Team

New Garden Flight School currently has 8 CFIs on our team. Learn more about our their background, and their goals in aviation below.

Tyler Glaccum - CFII

Ever since I was a little kid, I have always been drawn to aviation. It started ever since my parents bought a RC airplane when I was 8. Growing up everytime I saw an airplane fly overhead I always wondered how cool it would be to pilot one of those things. Now, after fully dedicating myself to training in December 2022, I can say I am fulfilling my dream.

While making it to the airlines is one of my career goals, I have true passion and love for mentoring others and can see myself still as a flight instructor when I make it to the airlines.

I first got hooked on flying when I was a kid flying on the airlines. I grew up around New Garden Airport and it is where I took my first discovery flight. I went to Avon Grove and did my private flight training here as well. I went on to get my commercial Multi-Engine pilot certificate as well as a flight instructor certificate in Lancaster, PA.

I enjoy teaching people something that I am very passionate about. My favorite part of flying is the people that I have met and the different places that I have flown too. My end goal is to eventually fly for the airlines.

Reed Hadly - CFI

Ramón Hontanon - CFII

Ramón works in Information Technology Management as his "day job", but his true passion lies in helping his flight students arrive at their "aha! moments” when those steep turns finally click! Ramon is humbled by the trust that his students place in him, to shepherd them through their aviation dream, and is committed to helping them become safe, proficient, and conscientious pilots. He loves instructing at New Garden Flying Field, a true aviation "field of dreams”.

When not flying airplanes, Ramón enjoys playing ice hockey with the morning crew at ShinnyUSA, and mountain biking singletrack up in northern Chester County.

Ian Moak - CFII

Harold McCanick - CFI

Eric Sabatina - CFII

Being an airline pilot has been a long-time dream of mine, having started from the first time I boarded a flight to Disney World with my family at the age of 7. Fortunately, my loved ones always encouraged me to chase my dreams, so I began my private pilot journey here at New Garden Flight School when I was 18 years old. Although my passion for aviation never dwindled, circumstances dictated that the pursuit of my dreams had to be put on hold for a short while.  Eventually, I was able to continue chasing my dream, and completed my training having earned certifications for Commercial Single and Multi-engine Land, CFI, CFII, and MEI.  I have since rejoined the New Garden Flight School community with a  love for what I do, excited to share my knowledge and passion for flying with others!

Doug Somoano - CFII

Doug got his passion for flight at a young age flying with his Dad. He worked in trade, and graduated with a bachelor’s in accounting, but it wasn’t until later with hard work and the support of his family that he ended up pursing his dream of flight.

Doug has achieved certifications such as single/multi-engine land, advanced ground instructor, CFI, CFII, and after flying for quite some time he decided to pursue flight instruction full-time.

In his free time he likes to explore new airports & restaurants. When going on vacation he prefers to fly out on long cross-countries with his family.
